摘要
Two recent developments are reviewed. (1) The Pairing-Plus-Quadrupole model has recently been extended to medium-weight nuclei with A = 108-134. (2) The semiclassical unified field theory of fundamental forces has been developed. It provides theoretical evidence for the existence of quarks in the nuclear interior. It predicts strong-, weak-, and gravity-waves in analogy with the electromagnetic waves, as well as magnetic fields produced by all four types of charges.
