摘要
The effect of temperature on the fracture elongation of low-density polyethylene, high-density polyethylene, and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer is studied. Semicrystalline polymers with a relatively low molecular mass display a decrease in their fracture elongation as the testing temperature approaches their melting point. Based on the results obtained and published data, a correlat on was found between the molecular mass of various polymers and their fracture elongation near the melting point. The fracture strain decreases with a decrease in the molecular mass of the polymer irrespective of its chemical structure. The effect of high-temperature embrittlement is characteristic of polymers with a molecular mass not exceeding 30000.
