Intranet-based mail fax gateway technology

The paper discusses the technology for Internet gateways with the emphasis on the Intranet-based email fax gateway solution. The paper presents the strategic advantage of integration the telephone network services and the Internet services. The client/server based architecture with multiple servers co-existed is proposed. The main functional modules for providing basic LAN fax services, the email to fax gateway functions, fax to email gateway functions and the message processing approaches are discussed in the paper. The paper also discusses the Web-base user email agent and fax user agent approaches.
