摘要
Besides vertigo, headache is the most frequent neurological symptom in the emergency room. Most of the time the patient suffers from a benign primary headache, sometimes previously known with acute pain exacerbation. The main challenge for the primary treating physician (e.g. emergency doctor, general practitioner) is the recognition and appropriate treatment of rare but potentially life-threatening headache syndromes, such as subarachnoid hemorrhage, arterial dissection, giant cell arteritis and cerebral vein thrombosis.
