FDS simulation, firefighting capabilities, and environmental impact assessment of the large crude oil storage tank's full-size pool fire

摘要
In this paper, a large crude oil reserves library in Tianjin is taken for an example. The fire scene for the tank's whole area is simulated using the fire simulation software FDS, which produces the development of fire and the change of the radiation intensity in case of fire. The result is that the rate in the horizontal direction is larger, up to 5.5 m/s, and the maximum value of thermal radiation is 35 KW/m(2). The calculation and assessment result of firefighting cooling water and foam liquid is that the storage of cooling water cannot satisfy the need of the tank's full-size pool fire, and the fire can be suppressed by the foam fireextinguishing system in 46 min. The volume of CO2, CO, SO2, after the full-size pool fire happened 60 s, is 1.47x10(6) m(3), 2.49x10(4) m(3), and 4.98x10(4) m(3) in accordance with the fire area and the calculated smoke rate given by FDS simulation, which has exceeded the requirements of the relevant national environmental standards. The amount of CO2, CO, SO2 the fire in the whole process is much larger than the above figures, which affects the human health to a certain extent.
