Prof. Mario Garcia-Sanz leads the Control Engineering Group at the Public University of Navarra, Spain. Visiting Positions led him to UMIST (Manchester, UK), Oxford University (UK), and NASA-JPL (California, USA). He has published over 100 scientific papers and holds 11 industrial patents. He was awarded the 1995 IEE Heaviside Prize and the 2001 BBVA Researcher Prize for his research in control and applications. Dr. Garcia-Sanz has been responsible for many research projects for industry, including Wind Turbine design (M. Torres Ltd.), Control of Formation Flying Spacecraft (NASA-JPL), Control of satellites with large flexible appendages (ESA-ESTEC), etc. He is also co-author of the book Quantitative Feedback Theory: Theory and Applications, with C.H. Houpis and S. Rasmussen (US Air Force, AFIT), published by Taylor & Francis (2006). Prof. Garcia-Sanz is Editor of the Int. Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control (Wiley) and NATO/RTO LS Director. His research activity is in the field of quantitative robust control theory in the frequency domain, systems engineering and industrial and space applications.
