摘要
The fatigue and strength characteristics of the alumina used as lamp envelopes for high intensity discharge (HID) lamps were discussed. The alumina test samples consisted of tubes with a 3.0 mm outer diameter and 1.1 mm inner dimaeter and high purity samples were sintered above 1800 °C. The median fracture strength and other Weibull parameters at each of the stressing rate were calculated. Analysis shows that the maximum allowable stress level calculated by the fast fracture strength is significantly higher than that based on the fatigue results.
