Increased automobile use results in a quick and worrisome increase in pollution. So as a solution to increasing pollution an environment-friendly energy source such as fuel cell is used. Fuel cells are a superior option since they are clean, have high energy efficiency, emit very little pollution, and produce very little noise. Additionally, vehicle to AC load applications is on the rise. Fuel cell energy can also be used to feed AC loads irrespective of climate variation, day or night. But fuel cell-based application requires stepping-up of output voltage to meet DC bus voltage level, a step-up converter with a high-gain, wide range in input voltage, and low voltage stress is required to enhance the output voltage. Hence a high gain converter, operating in two different topology for electric vehicle and vehicle to AC load application is shown here. The range extension of electric vehicle through regenerative braking and the use of battery in electric vehicle for meeting the slow dynamics of fuel cell and peak load is also shown.
