The General Thoracic Surgery Database of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons provides highly useful information in quality and safety in general thoracic surgery, including ratings of the surgeons and institutions participating in this type of surgery. This article discusses some of the work based on General Thoracic Surgery Database information regarding surgery for lung cancer and esophageal cancer.
