摘要
Application of an electrical field in soils generates peculiar transport phenomena whose analysis has been enclosed in the framework of nonequilibrium thermodynamics. Although, electrokinetic: phenomena in geotechnical engineering have been known for a long time, interest in their applications has grown in the last decade as they can be adopted to remediate polluted sites. Theoretical analysis as well as laboratory investigations must therefore be played to catch the relevant issues connected to the new practical demands. This paper, after recalling basics of the electrokinetic phenomena in soils, aims at identifying the aspects that play a major role in the model formulation. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd.
