The usefulness of strategic planning mechanisms: An empirical study of Canadian SME's

摘要
The present study aims to: (1) evaluate the perceived importance of strategic planning in the eyes of owners and managers of small and medium sized Canadian manufacturing enterprises; and (2) identify which strategic planning tools are used most often. The results show that the majority of the entrepreneurs in our study have implemented formalized strategic planning. However, while literature suggests that strategic planning is a key for success, only a few of the numerous tools suggested are actually being implemented by Canadian SME's in the manufacturing sector.
