The findings that jasmonic acid and its derivatives could be involved in a bio-regulation of some plants have been evident, likewise the application of n-propyl dihydrojasmonate (PDJ) was tested to control the maturation of 'Fuyu' persimmon. Spraying a PDJ solution to fruits on tree at 50 or 250 mg liter(-1) at 131, 138 or 145 days after full bloom (DAFB) mostly promoted the maturation as expressed by collecting data, firmness, peel color and TSS of fruit. Based on the collecting date, the most effective PDJ concentration and applicable time were the following combinations : 250mg liter(-1) at 131 or 138 DAFB and 50mg liter(-1) at 131 or 145 DAFB. Endogenous ABA level in the fruits treated by PDJ mentioned above were relatively low compared to the control and other treatments which revealed a maturation sluggishly. The relation between exogenous PDJ and change in ABA level was discussed.
