摘要:
Theoretical bounds for maximum likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) for intensity modulated fiber-optic links using an integrate and dump receiver structure are derived. These bounds are used to compare performance of different modulation formats. We show that while significant performance differences exist when bit-by-bit detection is used, the performance differences between modulation formats are less significant when using a MLSE receiver structure.
