The research field of carbon nanotubes has expanded from electrical applications to the optical field with nonlinear optical device applications in view. As such, theoretical calculations of the third-order nonlinear optical properties (χ(3)) of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) revealed a remarkable enhancement of χ(3) as high as 10-6 esu under a resonant excitation. This paper show that resonant enhancement of χ(3), which is close to the order of 10-7 esu, is available in semiconductor SWNTs with no loss of response speed.
