Chromium sublattice magnetic ordering in a compound of the ThCr2Si2 type structure:: HoCr2Si2

摘要
A neutron diffraction investigation of the intermetallic compound HoCr2Si2 has been carried out over the temperature range 1.7-470 K. The data clearly demonstrate that the Cr sublattice in this compound is ordered for the whole range of temperatures investigated. Chromium atoms at 4d sites are aligned anti-parallel along the c axis. The refined value of the ordered Cr moment is 1.48(4) mu(B), at 293 K and 1.60(4) mu(B) at 25 K The magnetic space group is 14'/m 'm 'm, with G(z)(-) Mn magnetic modes at 4d sites. The Ho and Cr sublattices order independently, with Ho moments at 2a sites ordering below 1.7 K. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
