摘要
The paper discusses specific advantages and technological challenges of the Twin-Roll strip casting technique to manufacture thin strips of different alloys. Models of different sections: Roll profile, temperature field in the melt pool, forming pressure, control mechanism as well as strip cooling strategies will be presented. The focus is an improvement of strip quality with regard to homogeneous temperature and thickness profile as well as its mechanical properties. All is based on recent developments and investigations at the Twin-Roll Strip Caster at the RWTH in Aachen, which is run by Thyssen Stahl AG and IBF. Although the extrapolation from a pilot easter to an industrial easter is limited, the chances for support will be worked out.
