摘要
A crucial aspect of starting up an automatic radiation monitoring network is the correct calibration of the detection systems. This is especially so when one wants to distinguish gross alpha and beta activity levels in aerosols of man-made origin from those produced by the descendants of radon and thoron. A procedure is described for the remote on-line calibration of an aerosol-borne radio-particulate-iodine detection system with improved distinguishing capability between the two above cited radioactive components.
