摘要
Participants in the 2003 International Future Energy Challenge attempted to design a single phase input, 500 watt adjustable speed motor and drive with a million unit volume production target cost of $40. The UW-Madison team approach is presented in this paper. A soft magnetic composite segmented stator PM-BLDC design and back-emf sensing drive is proposed. Manufacturing cost is the main constraint in this design. Educational aspects are also discussed.
