Properties of ZrB2-reinforced ternary composite

摘要
The various properties of zirconium diboride were investigated to study melting, hardness, corrosion resistance, thermal shock resistance, for developing new ceramic materials. Dense ternary composites were produced in the system AIN-SiC-ZrB 2, by hot pressing. The effect of the sintering aid and of the total amount of the zirconium diboride on densification, microstructure, and properties was studied. The results show that the addition of ZrB 2 caused an increase of hardness, toughness, Young's modulus and strength, compared to either AIN-SiC or monolithic AIN materials.
