A systematic investigation of magnetic and transport properties is carried out for La2/3Ca1/3MnO3 polycrystalline sample with the average grain size similar to 300 nm. Experimental results are discussed in terms of spin-polarized tunnelling model. It is shown that although the resistivity rho(T, H) is related to the magnetization M(T, H), the variation in M(T, H) does not exactly track rho(T, H). A possible interpretation is presented by considering the alignment of Mn spins within grains and the magnetic coupling of neighboring grains. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
