Synthesis of gold(III) complexes with the 1,2-dithiolate-o-carborane ligand.: Crystal structures of [N(PPh3)2][AuCl2(S2C2B10H10)] and [AuCl(S2C2B10H10)(CH2PPh3)]

摘要
The reaction of 1,2-dithiol-o-carborane, under basic conditions, with trans-NBu4[AuCl2R2] or [N(PPh3)(2)][AuCl4] results in the formation of the anionic gold(III) derivatives NBu4[(AuR2(S2C2B10H10)] [R = C6F5 (1), C6F3H2 (2)] or [N(PPh3)(2)][AuCl2(S2C2B10H10)] (3). Neutral gold(III) species are synthesized from suitable starting materials such as [AuCl3L] or [AuCl2X(PPh3)], leading to the complexes [AuCl(S2C2B10H10)L] [L = CH2PPh3 (4), CH2PPh2Me (5)] or [AuX(S2C2B10H10)(PPh3)][X = Cl (6), C6F5 (7)].
