PLC type compact variable optical attenuator for photonic transport network

摘要
The authors propose a compact non-mechanical variable attenuator based on silica-based planar lightwave circuits (PLC). The fabricated variable attenuator achieves 20dB attenuation with a polarisation sensitivity of < 1 dB, a wavelength range over 20nm, and rise and fall times of < 400 mu s.
