摘要
The variance of a backscattered signal in lidar remote sensing of the upper ocean through its rough surface is calculated. Remote sensing modes that minimize this variance for given conditions at the surface, depth of sensing under investigation, lidar velocity, and allowable scale of averaging are proposed.
