An experimental study of the effect pf rice husk ash (RHA) on concrete and mortar was undertaken. The majority of concrete produced in Australia is low strength, 20-25 MPa at 28 days. In the hope to capitalise on this large market, the focus of the experiments was on the use pf RHA in concrete with a compressive strength of 25 MPa at 28 days. The RHA used has a silicon content of 85% which is in an amorphous form. The characteristics of concrete made with RHA investigated include water demand, strength growth under curing regimes and for different mixes. pozzolanic, permeability and carbonation.
