摘要
This paper presents a description of recent research and development in passive bistatic radar (PBR) using phased array radar (PAR) as illuminator. Different from PBR based on common civil illuminators of opportunity, we develop an experimental PBR system using an PAR working in ultra-high frequency (UHF) band with abundant signal modulation forms as the transmitter. First, the experimental PBR system with reference channel and surveillance channel is described in detail. Then, aiming at the agile beam scanning and abundant signal modulation forms of PAR, a signal processing method for the PBR system is explained. Finally, a field experiment is conducted and the experimental results show that the PBR based on PAR signals is a feasible system and the proposed method is useful for moving aircraft positioning and tracking.
