摘要
In situ EXAFS X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) has previously been shown to be a particularly sensitive probe of the structure of carbon supported electrocatalysts. In this study the technique is applied to the investigation of metal-adsorbate bonding for the case of CO adsorbed on Pt electrocatalyst particles. Adsorbed CO is observed as a C neighbour at 1.85 Angstrom. Following oxidation, this contribution is replaced by an 0 neighbour at 2.00 Angstrom, accompanied by a reduction in the Pt-Pt first shell coordination number. These results demonstrate that in situ EXAFS of supported Pt electrocatalysts may be used to probe adsorbate structures.
