''What's in a Name'' examines the need to make careful choices about both the words with which people with disabilities permit themselves to be described and which they apply to themselves. It describes the author's exploration of an intense disliking for the term ''consumer'' as used to describe people with psychiatric disabilities, and why she believes this commonly used descriptor may invite untoward and unfavorable consequences.
