摘要
This study was done to prolong storability and storage of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.), one of the most important export fruits produced in Iran. The experiment was conducted in a factorial split plot, based on RCD design with three replications. The main plot was fruit weight (light and weight) and coating types (liquid acrylic, polyamide plastic and control). Time (2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 weeks) was considered as subplot. Results showed that the fruits coated with polyamide plastic had less weight loss of the fruit and maintained better freshness. In this treatment total soluble solids and acidity of the fruits juice decreased. Fruits kept their taste and flavor better in this covering than liquid acrylic and control treatments, but the ratio of total soluble solid (TSS) to titrable acidity (TSS/TA) had a lower value. The non-coated fruits showed the highest weight loss in week 10, while the least weight loss was observed in fruits coated with polyamide plastic. In coated fruits, acidity diminution was greater than the reduction in soluble solids. Therefore the fruit tasted sweeter with increasing storage proceed.
