摘要
Most of the castings are produced by sand moulding method, but due to many factors involved in casting process defects like blow holes and sand drops are generally observed. The factors like resin content, priming time, gassing time and purging time are responsible for blow holes due to more gas evolution in core's produced by core shooter machine. Whereas, factors like Fresh sand percentage in moulding sand, compaction pressure and resin in no bake core are responsible for sand drop in castings. Before the completion of this project, factor levels for producing cold box cores and no bake cores are set on trial basis. The experimental and analysis work of this dissertation aims at applying "Taguchi" technique to identify the major factors involved in the core shooter machine which produces cold box core's and determine their optimum level in turn to obtain consistently good quality casting's by with minimum gas evolution of cold box core's.
