摘要
A novel design for a highly birefringent photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with all circular holes for transmission in the terahertz (THz) regime is proposed. It shows a very high birefringence similar to 0.05 in the 0.7-1.5 THz frequency range. Using finite element method, we calculated the important optical properties like birefringence, material loss, confinement loss, and dispersion and investigated the effects of varying the fiber parameters on them. Design simplicity of the proposed PCF leads to great fabrication advantage over other complicated patterns. Therefore, the fiber is likely to find important uses in different THz polarization maintaining applications.
