摘要
The breakthrough behavior of copper in a biosorption column packed with polyvinyl alcohol-immobilized seaweed biomass has been determined. The breakthrough curves exhibited a very gradual approach to column saturation at large times, indicating the presence of mass transfer resistance within the biomass beads. Breakthrough curves calculated from a mathematical model are in approximate agreement with the experimental ones. The biomass beads can be regenerated by EDTA solution and reused over three consecutive cycles of breakthrough-elution.
