Upper extremity injuries in adolescent athletes

摘要：

Acute upper extremity injuries in adolescent athletes are more often fractures than ligament injuries. Elbow dislocation do not occur until the growth plates are closed. Wrist-ligament sprains are not common, where distal growthplate fractures are. Treatment of a shoulder dislocation in an adolescent athletes controversial but should be individualized for the patient. Arthroscopic stabilization of shoulder dislocations do not seem to work as well as open procedures in active athletes.
