Field emission from carbon nanotubes for displays

摘要
Carbon nanotube (CNT)-based field emission displays (FED) have been fabricated using well-aligned nanotubes on a glass substrate by paste squeeze and surface rubbing techniques. The fabricated displays were fully scalable at 415 degrees C and showed a high brightness of 1800 cd/m(2) at 3.7 V/mu m from the green phosphor. The turn-on fields of 1 V/mu m and field emission current of 1.5 mA at 3 V/mu m (J= 90 mu A/cm(2)) were observed. The fluctuation of the current was found to be about 7% over a 4.5 in cathode area. Large field enhancement factor (17000-33000) and low turn-on held (1 V/mu m) were attributed to well-aligned carbon nanotubes and a large number of carbon nanotubes of 5-10/mu m(2).
