Electrochemical and XPS studies on the aqueous corrosion resistance of niobium-implanted zircaloy-4

摘要
Aqueous corrosion resistance of niobium-implanted zircaloy-4 was investigated using electrochemical and X-ray photoemission spectroscopy studies. Three-sweep potentiodynamic polarization measurements were carried out to remove the oxide film that covered the freshly implanted surface. Scanning electron microscopy analyses were performed to investigate the surface morphology of different samples after polarization measurement. Results indicated that a significant improvement was achieved in the corrosion resistance of Nb-implanted zircaloy-4 compared with that of as-received zircaloy-4.
