The waste-activated sludge as an adsorbent to remove heavy metals from aqueous solutions has been discussed in this paper. impacts of different pH, temperature, biosorption time and concentrations on sludge adsorbent have been experimental tested, for the purpose to investigate the factors affecting the biosorption efficiency of heavy metals. And it was concluded that the influence of temperature on the biosorption of heavy metal is not significant, but pH and sludge concentration affect the bio-sorption efficiency seriously. Also it was found that the bio-sorption of heavy metal is a rapid process. At the same time, the sorption isotherms of heavy metal adsorption have been calculated. The biosorption ability of this sludge adsorbent to different heavy metals has also been studied, and the results indicated that it had higher biosorption efficiency of Cr(6+) than that of Cu(2+) and Ni(2+).
