Crystallizing behavior of Bi2O3-SiO2 system

摘要
Three compounds are shown in Bi2O3-SiO2 system, in which stable Bi12SiO20 and Bi4Si3O12 melt congruently at 900 °C and 1025 °C, respectively, and metastable Bi2SiO5 crystallites at about 845 °C upon cooling the melt. Although Bi2SiO5 is a metastable compounds, it tends to crystallize stably in a wide range of Bi2O3-SiO2 system and can be cooled to room temperature without phase transition. This crystallizing behavior of Bi2O3-SiO2 system is based on the distinctive structure and characteristics of silicate melt.
