The aesthetic slang: Ways of saying as constitutive of aesthetic experience

In this paper I aim to show how language shapes aesthetic experience and, especially, how the slang involved in aesthetic experiences is inseparable from them, as it operates as one of its component factors. Through an analysis of examples of popular aesthetic argot, mostly used by young people, I show some of the ways in which argot shapes aesthetic experiences that would not exist without its presence. In doing so, I draw on ideas about the relationship between language and experience by writers such as Wittgenstein, Vigotsky and Searle.
