Forced and/or self-organized criticality in space plasma processes

摘要
A brief account of the current concepts in forced and/or self-organized criticality (FSOC) is provided. As an example, the intermittent turbulent behavior of the sporadic and localized reconnection processes in the Earth's magnetotail is described. Other FSOC phenomena in space plasma processes include the ion hole/double layers, the fast electron holes, the kinetic and inertia Alfven structures. and the coherent structures associated with whistler resonances.
