摘要
Spontaneous gas-phase charging phenomenon of single-walled carbon nanotube (CNT) bundles synthesized with an aerosol (floating catalyst) method was discovered. The charging phenomenon was surprisingly correlated to the process of the CNT bundle formation in the gas phase, while individual tubes remained electrically neutral. On the basis of the observed self-charging of the CNTs, a novel method for the separation of individual CNTs and bundles at ambient temperature using an electric field is presented.
