摘要：

In this paper we investigate the use of mobile agents (MA) for service provision in mobile computing environments. In this context, we present the results of a comparative study between Java RMI and mobile agents. Experimental measurements are performed to compare both paradigms. The results show that significant performance improvement can be obtained using mobile agents. An agent-based service scenario is presented to illustrate the benefits of using mobile agents for service provision and their potential impact on mobile computing environments.
