摘要
An investigation was conducted to synthesize and characterize two silica-acrylic-epoxy hybrid coatings on 430 stainless steel (430SS): one contains 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (gamma MPS) modified silica particles (CCMS) and the other contains unmodified ones (CCUS). Both were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared reflection and absorption spectra (FTIR-RAS). Corrosion resistance was evaluated by salt spray test and potentiodynamic polarization technique. The CCMS-coated 430SS exhibits a higher protective efficiency than the CCUS-coated. The enhanced delamination resistance of the CCMS-coated 430SS during the salt spray testing is attributed to its homogeneous surface having few defects and strong interfacial adhesion resulting from the formation of FeO-Si covalent bonds.
