In this article, members of Audio and Electroacoustics Technical Committee review, with technical depth, the history of research in audio and electroacoustics, including electroacoustic devices, noise control, echo cancellation, and psychoacoustics. They also report recent processes in signal-processing technologies that are widely used in hearing aids, the consumer electronics areas, and professional audio equipment.
