Irradiation-induced creep of the Zr-2.5% Nb - A material for tubes of fuel channels of an RBMK-1000 reactor

摘要
The rate of thermal and irradiation-induced creep of the Zr-2.5% Nb alloy (13125) was estimated based on the results of measurements of the outer diameters of fuel-channel tubes of an RBMK-1000 reactor after exploitation. Microstructural investigations showed that, under the exploitation conditions, the plastic deformation of the alloy occurs due to diffusion processes and that the irradiation creep of the alloy manifests itself after the nucleation of radiation defects.
