This study discussed the legal trajectory of the degree in psychology in Brazil, from Law 4119/62 that regulated the exercise of psychology in the country, including the National Curriculum Guidelines - DCN's until reaching a survey / reflection of the offer of these degrees in the state of Rio de Janeiro. It questioned the way that the formation of a psychology teacher has been built in the state, as well as its public policies and offers in the degree modality. Its methodological strategy was the analysis of documents in the field of psychology, considered important for this path and the curricula currently offered. In this timeline, 35 documents were analyzed, selected by the relevance of contribution to the study, being the law that regulates the profession of psychology in the country (01), the existing National Curriculum Guidelines (03) and 31 curricula from public and private HEIs, which offer the course in the state. Along this path, similarities between the current place of the degree were also perceived, with all the historical struggle of teacher training, still being a secondary place in the organization of disciplines to the detriment of the bachelor's degree, followed by little offer. The struggle to build the identity of this professional is still present, even in the understanding of his field of work. Signaling the need to turn attention to the place of research on the undergraduate degree, his field of knowledge and intertwining with didactic and methodological issues, seeking to recognize the knowledge and profession of the teacher, reflect on the degree of psychology with an area that comes to contribute enormously, such as meeting the Brazilian needs.
