Current sensing and sharing are important functionalities for paralleled and multiphase power converters. For reliable and efficient operation, current sensing accuracy and the current sharing performance are required. Therefore, sensing errors and mismatches should be eliminated and calibrated. On the other hand, conventional current sharing controllers are designed to force equal current sharing or current distribution between power converter phases, which may not result in the most efficient operation. In this paper, an N-Phase current sharing algorithm and controller (NCSAT) with current sensing auto-tuning capability is presented in this paper. The presented controller is able to auto-tune the current sensing and current sharing between N converter phases which results in achieving current sharing between converter phases for maximum power efficiency. The presented controller is free of sensing inaccuracies and mismatches.
