Study on dry sliding friction and wear properties of Ti2AlN/TiAl composite

摘要
The dry sliding friction and wear behavior of Ti2AlN/TiAl composite (TTC) at room temperature were investigated through the determination of coefficient of friction (COF) and wear loss in different conditions and the analysis of the compositions of wear debris and the worn surfaces of both TTC and GCr15 steel. Experimental results have shown that at the constant sliding speed (0.5 m/s) and low load (1 N), the wear loss of TTC is negligible due to the amixed oxide layer of Al2O3 and TiO2 on the grinding surface of TTC, oxidation wear happened on the surface of GCr15 steel, and the wear debris were Fe2O3, while the wear mechanisms are micro-cutting and abrasive wear of TTC under the conditions of moderate and/or high load (3-9 N). At the constant load (7 N), the wear mechanisms are micro-cutting and abrasive wear of TTC when the sliding speed is less than 1.0 m/s, the wear loss of TTC is slight when the sliding speed is more than 1.0 m/s, oxidation wear happened on the surface of GCr15 steel, and the wear debris were Fe2O3.
