摘要：

Intractable fecal incontinence, often associated with spina bifida, usually prevents children with this condition from achieving physical and social independence. The Malone antegrade continence enema procedure, often performed in conjunction with a Mitrofanoff procedure to gain urinary continence, can help these patients attain a better quality of life. Fecal continence is achieved in about 90% of neuropathic patients. The procedure and principles behind it transfer to adult patients as well.
