Battery charge

The US government is planning to develop a domestic lithium-ion battery that is expected to provide significant advantages for the car manufacturers. A number of leading manufacturers have announced to develop battery-based drivetrains and pure battery-electric vehicles (BEV). General Motors is planning to convert the Chevrolet Volt range of vehicles into extended-range electric vehicle (EREV). The company has started low-volume production of the Volt to launch it in the market by the fourth quarter of 2010. The implementation of stringent environmental regulations in the country have forced these companies to consider using lithium-ion batteries in their cars.
