摘要
The formation of memory as well as national identity runs through the construction of national symbols and mythologies that add value to a good or an event. In the case of heroes the story is very similar: they are created as the example of what should be considered as important qualities of a person who is part of that nation. The War of the Triple Alliance produced these images on all sides of the conflict. This work aims to examine one of these constructions, the rescue of the mortal remains of Solano Lopez and the construction of the National Pantheon of the Heroes in Asuncion and, based on this, his elevation to the category of national hero.
