摘要
In this paper we present the parallel implementation of a common image processing operation: the low-pass filter (LPF). The parallel LPF was implemented using the message passing programming model in a cluster of workstations. Our main goal is to reduce the response time of the filtering operation yet maintaining the quality of the processed image. In order to achieve this goal we developed a parallel implementation of image LPF. In this work we also analyze the performance of our implementation using different filtering mask dimensions on different image sizes and employing a variable number of processors (uniprocessors).
